Brain Fog
Often patients present brain fog as a symptom of a mysterious illness that is yet to be discovered. I'm trying to rack my brain for the conditions I've genuinely seen cause brain fog in real life, versus a much more obvious cause hidden in plain sight.
I played Silent Hill 2 for the first time last year, early in the creative stages of the "Where Was I Going With This" album, and it consumed me for a good few months. The story (which I won't spoil) is incredible, and the use of fog as a mechanic in the early game immediately made me think of all the patients I see wandering their own Silent Hill looking for an answer they already know deep down.
It wasn't until recently that I realised how much Silent Hill 2 influenced this album — the Mary/Maria dynamic becoming Storm/Brown Suit Chima, the eerie melancholic music, the unsettling symbolism ("Thrashing" and the whip).
All this makes me think "Brain Fog" is actually the emotional core of the new album, as I sleepwalk into whatever it is I am currently doing while hiding from truths I probably should face. It was also one of the first beats Slone sent me that sold me on the whole project.
